Waste heat becomes heat: PREMANT pipe system for CO₂-neutral heat from data centres

Green is building three data centres as part of the Metro Campus project in Dielsdorf. Together with Energie 360° and the municipalities of Dielsdorf and Regensdorf, the waste heat generated will be fed into a new district heating network that will supply around 11,500 households, businesses and industries with CO₂-neutral heat from 2026 onwards.

BRUGG Pipes is supplying more than 1.5 kilometres of heat-insulated PREMANT pipes (126 rods, each 12 metres long and over 70 cm in diameter) for the first stage of construction. The route is supplemented by precisely manufactured fittings such as T-pieces. The system has integrated monitoring wires that enable permanent leak monitoring and rapid fault location.

Another key technical feature is the use of the patented INDUCON socket welding process. The inductively welded sockets ensure maximum tightness – a decisive factor for operational safety under demanding conditions.

By combining digital infrastructure with sustainable heat supply, the project sets a benchmark for energy-efficient and future-proof networks.
