Optimal duo - CASAFLEX and PREMANT for the Rothenthurm heating network

With the goal of a more sustainable energy supply in mind, the municipality of Rothenthurm in the foothills of the Swiss Alps has decided to install an efficient district heating pipeline. Many public and private buildings are to be heated with a centralised heat source to conserve resources. Our compatible CASAFLEX and PREMANT pipes were used to provide the residents with an optimal energy supply in the future.

The ultimate goal is to lay a length of up to six kilometres. Both existing buildings and newly constructed flats will be connected to the heating network. Our rigid PREMANT pipes master long and straight stretches. Easy-to-install house connections are enabled by our flexible CASAFLEX pipes.

In the first construction phase, the district heating pipeline was built from the new heating centre to the primary school building. The energy for the heating centre comes from an enormous wood-fired boiler, in which the heat is generated by burning forest woodchips and transported to the buildings through our pipes.

The CASAFLEX pipe is flexible in its installation. Thanks to the corrugated outer casing, it can realise tight bending radii and thus easily bypass obstacles. The PREMANT long-distance pipe can transport not only heating water but also domestic hot water, condensate and chemical products over long distances. Together, the two pipe systems from BRUGG Pipes form the ideal duo for the sustainable energy supply of the municipality.
