On behalf of Regionalwerke Baden, BRUGG Pipes constructed a high-performance district heating and cooling network for the “Limmat rechts” district in Baden. FLEXWELL-FHK, PREMANT, and CASAFLEX pipe systems were used. The route runs from the indoor swimming pool on Pfisterstrasse to the Aue sports hall, where it supplies several consumers, including the youth hostel.
The first stage involved extending the network from the energy center at the municipal indoor swimming pool across steep terrain to the vicinity of the sports hall's running track. For this purpose, a DN800 steel casing pipe was laid using press drilling, through which two flexible DN 98 FLEXWELL-FHK pipes were then pulled. The pulling was carried out with high precision using two reels along the entire route.
After pulling, the pipes were connected to the energy center, continued in the lower pipe trench, and insulated accordingly at transfer points. In the second and third construction phases, PREMANT and CASAFLEX pipes laid on site were used. These were installed along the sports facility and connected to the Aue sports hall and other buildings, including the youth hostel.
The combination of flexible and pre-insulated pipe systems enabled efficient construction adapted to the topographical conditions with a high level of supply reliability.
