CALPEX ULTRA – Insulated pipe system for district heating and sanitary

CALPEX ULTRA is a unique, flexible and pre-insulated pipe system that can be used for both district heating and sanitary/potable water applications

CALPEX ULTRA is the consistent further development of CALPEX PUR-KING and sets new standards in the field of PUR-insulated PEX pipe systems with the world's best insulation value.

Thanks to the potable water certification of the inner pipes, the same high-performance insulation as CALPEX PUR-KING and the flexible design, CALPEX ULTRA is suitable for demanding projects where energy efficiency and flexible installation are key.

Variant overview:
CALPEX ULTRA UNO: One line for heating and cold water
CALPEX ULTRA DUO: Flow and return line in one insulation
CALPEX ULTRA QUADRIGA: 4 separate lines (heating and hot water lines with respective flow and return) in one insulation

Pre-insulated pipe system with potable water certification

Top safety and tested
CALPEX ULTRA features inner pipes certified for potable water use. Tested and officially certified by relevant testing laboratories, these independent control bodies evaluate and test products neutrally, analyse results and reliably confirm conformity. To obtain certification for potable water supply, for example, the carrier pipes of the CALPEX ULTRA pipe system easily withstood intensive testing. During this process, the quality, durability and hygiene of the test products are scrutinised and assessed in detail. The evaluation includes, for instance, mechanical-functional tests and hygienic suitability tests. In the case of our CALPEX ULTRA pipe system, measurements and tests of the inner pipe have shown that our product is excellently suited as a potable water pipeline.

Economic investment

Minimal heat losses. High energy efficiency. Long-term operational reliability – for two areas of application: district heating and potable water.

The pre-insulated flexible pipe system makes life easier for planners, installers and network operators. CALPEX ULTRA is the solution for long-term economic projects with high safety margins. With less logistics effort, lower storage costs and reduced training requirements, combined with more safety and efficiency for every investment.

In short: one system, two applications, countless advantages.

CALPEX ULTRA application areas

✔ Local heating
✔ District heating
✔ Sanitary and potable water applications
✔ House-to-house connections

The main advantages of CALPEX ULTRA

✅ Highly efficient PUR thermal insulation as with CALPEX PUR-KING – the world's best insulation performance in pre-insulated pipe systems with PUR foam
✅ World's lowest thermal conductivity of $λ = 0.0199 \text{ W/mK}$ (at 50 °C)
✅ Integrated aluminium diffusion barrier to prevent oxygen ingress with relevant potable water certification
✅ Pressure rating PN 10 in SDR 11 wall thickness, for high load capacity in network operation
✅ No complex welding work required – significantly reduces installation time
✅ Minimal need for connection points – reduces heat losses and leakage risks
✅ Delivery in long coils enables largely joint-free installation
✅ UV-resistant outer casing made of LLD-PE

With CALPEX ULTRA, we combine Swiss engineering, decades of experience and uncompromising quality standards. The result is a future-proof pipe system that already meets the increasing demands for efficient and flexibly installable pipe systems today.

  • Why an integrated aluminium barrier?

PE-Xa pipes are permeable to diffusion, allowing oxygen from the environment to enter the heat transfer medium. In local and district heating systems, this can lead to additional heat losses and faster wear and tear. An integrated aluminium barrier completely prevents oxygen ingress, thus protecting the district heating network from heat losses and contributing significantly to the operational reliability and service life of the system.
