A district heating network is currently being built in a municipality in Upper Bavaria that will reliably supply around 160 households with heat – entirely from renewable energy sources. The heat comes from a 20 MW biomass plant powered by regionally produced wood chips.
BRUGG Pipes is supplying 2.7 kilometres of rigid PREMANT plastic-coated pipes for this project and is also carrying out the re-insulation directly on site. The plastic-coated pipes pass through different types of soil, restricted construction areas and existing infrastructure – challenges that can only be overcome with precise planning, coordination and modern technology.
Once completed, the modular pipe network will be around seven kilometres long and can be flexibly adapted to future requirements. For the municipality, this is a milestone in the local energy transition, demonstrating how technical innovation, renewable resources and teamwork can lead to a sustainable heat supply.
