Turning waste heat into heating: PREMANT pipe system for a district heating network at a data centre

As part of the Metro Campus project in Dielsdorf, Switzerland, Green is constructing three data centres. Working with Energie 360° and the municipalities of Dielsdorf and Regensdorf, the waste heat generated will be fed into a new district heating network that will supply around 11,500 households, commercial businesses and industrial facilities from 2026.

For the first phase of development, BRUGG Pipes is supplying more than 1.5 kilometres of pre-insulated PREMANT pipes (126 pipe lengths of 12 m each, with a diameter exceeding 70 cm). The pipe route is complemented by precision-manufactured fittings such as T-pieces. The system features integrated monitoring wires that enable continuous leak monitoring and rapid fault location.

Another key technical feature is the use of the patented INDUCON induction welding process for joints. The induction-welded joints ensure maximum leak-tightness, a decisive factor for operational reliability under demanding conditions.

This is how digital infrastructure and regional heat supply can be connected.
