Official approval: DB InfraGO confirms use of FLEXWELL district heating cable-FHK under railway tracks

Important milestone for railway projects: BRUGG Pipes' FLEXWELL district heating cable-FHK has been officially approved for trenchless installation under railway tracks – without additional protective casing.

Following several years of development and testing, DB InfraGO has confirmed that BRUGG Pipes’ FLEXWELL FHK can be used for track crossings up to DN 80. The district heating cable thus meets the high railway-specific requirements and offers the planners, network operators and installation managers involved maximum planning and execution reliability.

Background: intensive testing and expert opinions
The confirmation was preceded by a process lasting several years – from technical evaluation and calculations to external expert opinions. The results were confirmed by the relevant DVGW working group on gas/water crossing guidelines and finally officially recognised by DB InfraGO's design responsibility department.

Advantages for trenchless track crossings
The FLEXWELL-FHK can be laid under track systems without an additional protective pipe – a decisive advantage in practice. Trenchless installation saves time and costs and enables safe, standard-compliant implementation even in sensitive infrastructure areas.
