Groundbreaking ceremony in Wunstorf – BRUGG Pipes invests 20 million EUR

With great anticipation, BRUGG Pipes announces a significant milestone in the development of its Wunstorf site. The expansion of the company is moving forward with another new factory building. The project is supported by the city of Wunstorf and business developer Mr Schwamm. The expansion is being run by the company’s own international project team.

With the help of this state-of-the-art construction project, pipe manufacturer BRUGG Pipes is aiming to create an even greater presence in the growing German market for local and district heating. The project focuses on increasing local production capacities as well as expanding the range of services for the German market. In addition to the Swiss site in Kleindöttingen, the CALPEX PUR-KING, the flexible PEX pipe system with the best thermal insulation and the 2023 test winner of the Danish Technological Institute, will also be manufactured in Wunstorf in the future.

The new factory building is keeping pace with the energy transition and is orientated on the sustainability targets for reducing ecological footprints. In addition to fulfilling the solar requirements for commercial buildings in Lower Saxony, the new building will be operated with modern heat pumps and contain an extruder system that consumes 30% less energy than conventional systems.

The new building will also improve social areas with the installation of additional showers and cabins for the employees. Around 25 new jobs will be created by the expansion of the factory site. At the same time, a new technical centre will be created to ensure the advancement of the product portfolio.

Germany is one of the main markets for local and district heating in Europe. We at BRUGG Pipes are pleased to be a leading player in the market for pre-insulated flexible pipe systems, says Julien Rouso, Chief Operating Officer. With a total sum of a good 20 million EUR, BRUGG Pipes is not only strengthening its position in this sector, but also contributing to the sustainable development of the regional economy. With the new production lines, the kilometre output of flexible pipe systems in Wunstorf will more than double in the future.
