Pipe System for Biogas
BRUGG Pipes delivers a proven solution for internal digester heating: the BIOFLEX helically corrugated stainless steel heat transfer pipe. Used in over 600 digesters for more than ten years, this pipe system is engineered for optimal thermal performance and long-term reliability. The BIOFLEX pipe not only is vastly superior in its rate of heat transfer, but it also installs faster than any other pipe. One of the reasons for the superior heat transfer is the pipe’s helical corrugation, which increases the heat transfer surface by 40% over smooth bore pipe. The BIOFLEX pipe comes “endless” resulting in no pipe connections inside the digester.
Mounted directly to the inner wall of the digester, the BIOFLEX CNW 60/66 (DN 50) pipe operates in one or more heating circuits. Its helical corrugation increases the heat transfer surface by up to 150% compared to smooth-walled pipes, ensuring faster and more effective energy transfer to the substrate.
Complete Heat Transfer Pipe System
The BIOFLEX system package includes everything needed for a high-performance installation:
Supplied in continuous lengths, the BIOFLEX pipe eliminates internal connections and welding work inside the digester. Installation is fast, tool-free, and adaptable to various tank geometries — suitable for both concrete and steel tanks.
For external connections, the pipe is routed through the tank wall in a protective sleeve with a low bending radius. All fittings remain outside the digester, ensuring a joint-free interior. When the connection system is on the inside, the corrugated stainless steel pipe is connected to a rigid pipe with the weld-free graphite GRAPA-S connector. This is then fed outside through the fermenter wall via a wall bushing.
